Privacy Policy

BackingBand generates and plays backing tracks on your device. You do not need an account.
Usage statistics and purposes
Usage sharing is enabled by default. We use PostHog to understand practice, feature use, reliability and purchase flows so we can improve BackingBand. You can turn it off in Settings; this does not affect playing, editing or Pro features. Events may include a random installation identifier, event time, app and OS versions, device model, interface language, region settings, available App Store storefront, Pro status, styles, public built-in chart identifiers, and playback duration. User-created and imported charts are represented only by random local analytics identifiers and categories, not their names or contents.
What we do not collect
We do not send your charts, chord text, import links, clipboard contents, audio or recordings to PostHog. We do not collect advertising identifiers or use this data for cross-app advertising tracking. A random installation identifier lets us connect events from the same installation; this is not a promise of complete anonymity.
Processing basis
We process the information needed to deliver purchases and requested services to perform our agreement with you. For usage statistics, our purpose is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our own app, subject to applicable law and your rights to object. This statement does not replace consent where applicable law requires it. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising or decisions with significant effects on you.
Choices and deletion
You can object to usage analytics by turning off Share usage statistics in Settings, at any time and free of charge. Previously saved off preferences remain off after updates. Disabling stops new collection and clears queued analytics. Data already transmitted is not automatically deleted. To request deletion, email us from Settings > Send feedback; that email includes your analytics ID. We aim to process requests within 30 days. Requests already in transit when you switch off may still arrive.
Storage and providers
Charts and settings remain on your device; Apple may include them in device backups. Usage analytics is sent to our PostHog EU project. Network services necessarily process IP addresses for communication; we disable analytics IP storage and geolocation enrichment. We keep usage analytics while needed to improve the app, review retention at least annually, and delete data we no longer need. Provider storage periods may vary; you can request deletion at any time. See https://posthog.com/privacy for the provider's privacy information.
Purchases
Apple processes purchases and restores. We do not receive payment details or your Apple ID. When usage sharing is enabled, we record purchase-flow outcomes, product identifiers, available price/currency and Pro status, but not receipts or raw transaction identifiers. App Store Connect separately provides Apple's aggregated downloads and sales reports.
Network access
Practice and local editing do not require analytics connectivity. Network access is used for Apple purchasing services and analytics while usage sharing is enabled. Analytics failures do not prevent practice or purchase delivery.
Children and changes
Usage sharing can be turned off in Settings. If you believe a child has shared data you want removed, contact us from Settings > Send feedback. We update this policy when our practices change.
